This presentation looks at the factors behind the current financial crisis and explains in detail how various independent but inter-related events such as changes in liquidity reserves, incremental use of securitisation and derivatives, changes in regulation and the appearance of hedge funds have collaborated over the last decade to generate the perfect storm.

Yannis Matsis

Yannis Matsis co-founded and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Point Nine, a company that offers middle and back office trade processing and operation services to financial institutions.
Yannis made his career in banking where he has 15 years of experience in building and managing global debt capital market teams. Prior to Point Nine Yannis was Managing Director, Head of Structured Trading at Mizuho International, where he built and managed a global team responsible for structuring and trading credit, interest rate and foreign exchange derivative products. Yannis joined Mizuho in 2003 from ING Barings where he was Managing Director, Global Head of the Credit Derivatives business, with offices and operations in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Sao Paulo.
Yannis graduated from Cambridge University with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
